in a more in depth look, we see two new Spring colors of the Straight Jacket VLC. The blue denim comes with gold contrast stitching, oiled tan leather tongue, and red patent leather accents. This shoe is all it’s cracked up to be and will be one of the best sellers for sure. The brother to blue denim is the black denim. This colorway is a spin-off of the Pickyourshoes.com SMU from last year. This color has both dark and light black denim and give off a much tougher look with raw edges. This shoe is tied all together with every sneaker heads favorite, Tiffany green, accent color ways and mesh lining. In a day and age where technology has advanced further than ever before you’d think that more people would be living longer, not be passing away younger.

Today we mourn the loss of one of Hip Hop’s finest. Heavy D paved the way early on and will forever remain in our hearts, and on our playlists. We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family.

Inside NEFF Headquarters

Last week I had the chance to stop in to catch up with our friends over at NEFF Headwear in Ventura, CA. After an hour drive through LA headed toward the sunny California coast, I passed a huge pumpkin patch and found myself at the doorstep of the office that has played home to the brand for the last 30 months. I was greeted by their signature NEFF Logo and Suckerface on the walls and the sound of people both working diligently as well as laughing and enjoying themselves. That’s the way work should be, right?

With a quick tour it’s undeniable they’ve quickly outgrown their space and so they are doing what any growing company does…Moving to a new (and much bigger) location which will house not only the brand but also their own skatepark! What better way to spend your lunch break or blow off some steam? The new office is under construction and the transition to the new location will be complete December 1st! (we’ll be sure to swing by and get some new pics for you once they get settled)

And of course…beanies galore! While I was there some Aussie friends were checking in to say hello as well and of course pick up some awesome new headwear!

While at the office we had a chance to ask our friend and the genius behind it all; Shaun Neff, a few questions about his brand, how it started and what inspires him.

Radii: What was the “magic moment” when you decided it was the right time to start your own company?

Shaun: I have always been intrigued with fashion and branding and why people wear certain brands and what brands do to attract followers. The Magic Moment was when I moved to Utah to go to school far from the beach and surfing, I decided to go for it and launch the brand.

Radii: Your first products were headwear, what was the reason behind this product being your launching point and how has it influenced what the brand is today?

Shaun: The brand was originally a clothing brand, and as I met the major pro snowboarders up in Utah and tried to get them to rock some NEFF shirts all of them said “no, I can’t. I have a contract with my apparel company” so it was a bust. I asked to see the contracts and noticed that headwear was not listed in any of the deals so the light went off and that moment NEFF changed from NEFF CLOTHING to NEFF HEADWEAR. It allowed us to focus on a niche product and really pick up athletes, distribution and space on the floor. It was the best move ever and’ till this day we are the largest headwear supplier to our industry in alot of categories.

Radii: What is your favorite product you’ve created to date?

Shaun: OH WOW! I would have to say today that it would be the watches, they have been fun to launch and the success at retail is crazy.

Radii: Star struck or not, having the support of celebrities boosts brand awareness and adds to brand credibility, who were you most excited to learn was wearing your products?

Shaun: Probably LIL WAYNE and SNOOP

Radii: Who has had the biggest influence and provided the most inspiration for you?

Shaun: WOW, maybe the internet because I can tap into everyones mind and ideas in the world. So thanks for that Mr. Internet

Shaun: Mexican

Radii: When are you most creative?

Shaun: When I am lying in bed at night trying to fall asleep but I can’t because ideas are constantly flowing like Iguazu Falls.

Radii: Where do you go or what do you do to decompress?

Shaun: Hang with the fam.

Radii: Favorite travel destination?

Shaun: My HOME!
